My first time...
Strange... Why is the format of blogger.com in chinese? Have internet websites fall victim to outsourcing? Is FiD going to get an AD fer eltech? Hard to say. So many questions with no definite answers. he he.
Now, on to the main story! Do you guys remember about "your first time"? It can be about anything, be it my first kiss, my first shameful moment, my first ass-whopping, etc. Since we have minors under the age of 14 blogsurfing nowadays, lets talk about something clean! How bout my first taxi ride.
Still remembered it as if it were yesterday. I was late for school one morning. I actually missed my morning ride, the school bus. Ahh, fun times i had on the bus. As a small kid, seeing the "uncle" driver exhale cigarette smoke from his nose was like magic to us! No normal human being could ever to that! or so we thought. But im saving that story for another day. Back to me missing my morning ride. I was wayy pissed as now i have to take the public transport. The thought of being all cramped up in the non-airconditioned bus. Furthermore i had a ton of books strapped to my back. I didnt have the luxury of choosing what to bring to school back then as i needed all of my books everyday. And i mean EVERYDAY. No way was i going to take the public transport!
So i did the next best thing. I counted my coins, and realised "heyy! adding up all of my weekly allowance, i got just enough money for a taxi ride!" Oh boy, i was grinning from side to side. With a wallet full of 10 cent and 20 cent coins, i flagged down my first-ever taxi ride. A joyous occasion it was, could almost hear the people at the bus-stop cheering for me. The malay taxi driver greeted me. He must've been surprised seeing a young boy taking the cab all alone. " Adik nak pegi maner nie? "(young boy, where do you want to go?) "Changkat primary school, uncle." With a smile, he drove me to my destination. As we moved, i took out my coins and started to count. Since my school was quite near to my house, i expected the charge to be around $2.80. So i started to sort out my coins. We reached the gates of my school just as i had finished counting to about $1.20. As he stopped the meter, he asked " adik ade berape pat tangan tuu?" (boy, how much do u have there in your hands?) "$1.20 jer pakcik" ($1.20, uncle) With a smile, he told me " takperlah adik, pakcik ambik $1.20 jer" (nevermind boy, uncle will charge you only $1.20.)
I smiled and thanked him. Managed to save some cash. The feeling of taking my first cab ride was indescribable! An adventure which i told to my classmates. It was like an action-packed movie with reactions like "whoaa" and "wow". I was pretty proud of myself back then. Seems stupid now.
So, that was one of "my first..." stories. How 'bout yours?...
